ATDB Version 5

is a full re-design of the user-side applications and was developped with these design goals:

Human interface

  • simplified and streamlined common-look interface
  • one main page, any query can be submitted from that page
  • user always at most 1 click away from the information searched
  • queries in natural English language, "intelligent" parser
  • provide for queries never before possible
  • immediate access to remote photographic archives, official registers, safety events descriptions
  • context-specific help, description and hints

Generated data

  • open architecture to add new functions on the fly
  • attempt to guess user's next requests and generate drill-down reports before (s)he asks
  • enable export to Excel
  • provide new simplified tabular reports
  • prepare for providing additional data (eg. used transactions dates) when available
  • users can review and replay their recent queries

Technical

  • move browser-specific and O/S-dependent javascript logic to a common server-side application
  • use pop-up's only when necessary and useful
  • end-user can customize appearance and navigation behaviour
  • designed for speed and compatibility: minimum graphics, no java applet or flash movie
  • expand security routines for accounts management
  • support access from barebone PDA's or cellular phones
  • global repository with dynamic passthru fetch from remote archives sites
  • enhanced data-collecting and monitoring robots

The 10,000th distinct site visitor was registered in May 2001, 100,000th in February 2002, 500,000th in March 2003

Access to earlier releases

  • Access to ATDB versions 4 has been discontinued in July 2005. Use ATDB 5.2 QueryBuilder for complex queries.
  • Access to ATDB versions 3 has been discontinued and is no more supported
