Purchased JFK-London route authority from United on 28/7/06. Merger proposal received 15/11/06 from US Airways for $8.4b (increased to $10.2b in early 1/07, withdrawn 31/1/07). Exited Chapter 11 on 30/4/07. Announced merger plan with Northwest on 14/4/08, with combined carrier to be named Delta; approved 29/10/08 by US Dept of Justice; achieved single AOC on 31/12/09.
